Santo Antonio is in the heart of the historical city, its a family neighbourhood with amazing old "casaroes" and a few select restaurants.

About 10 years ago another colonisation occurred, a wave of Europeans started to see the great beauty in the houses, many have now been restored to their former glory. Perhaps one of the most impressive and beautiful is the Pousada Colonial.

Within a 10 minute walk you will find Pelourinho the old city of colourful colonial buildings, cobblestoned streets and a sense of history clustered around the Largo do Pelourinho and a unesco world heritage protected site.

It is a lively neighbourhood where you will sense a great influence from African culture, there are churches, museums, theatres, plenty of bars, restaurants, and a variety of local squares with live music.
